United Inches (UI) is a term commonly used within the window industry which describes the sum of a window product's height, plus its width.
EXAMPLE:
You're interested in purchasing a security screen from Acme Security Screen Company that measures 36" x 64". After adding the width and the height together, the total united inches of this screen would be 100. Acme tells you that the united inch price for this certain type of screen is $5.00/UI. Therefore, you would multiply $5.00 x 100 UI to arrive at $500.00 as your cost per screen.
